Tailor’s association staged protest against Government

01.03.10 : The Dakshina Kannada unit of Karnataka State Tailors’ Association
staged a mass protest against the government demanding various rights and
proper funds for the welfare of tailors in front of the DC office on March
1.
Mr. Praveen Salian, State president of Karnataka Tailors Association
putforth the demands of Karnataka Tailors and urged the Government to
sanction the Working Tailors Welfare Fund and provide the pension scheme.

Mr. Krishnappa Salian, vice president of Karnataka State Tailors Association
and Ramesh Madoor, district president, Karnataka State Tailors Association
also spoke on the occasion.
A large number of people also accompanied the protesters in the procession
was took place from Shanti Nilaya ground, Balmatta, to DC Office, before the
protest. Over five hundred tailors took part in the procession as well as
protest.
The protesters raised the problems faced by the tailors like accommodation,
children’s education, medical treatment. They also urged the government to
provide sufficient fund in coming 2010-11 budget for the welfare. Later the
memorandum was handed over to DC on this occasion.
