Unorganized workers lack governmental facilities

01.05.10 Mangalore : The government must give the facilities and beneficiary schemes for the unorganized workers children including scholarship and medical facilities, said MLA Ramanath Rai, speaking at the press meet held as apart of workers day held at District Congress Office on May 1, 2010.

There are around 92 percent of unorganized workers including bus workers, lead loaders, Beedi workers and other workers, said Ivan D’Souza, advocate and congress leader speaking on the occasion.

He also said that these workers are not given any kind of governmental facilities, hence he urged, the government to implement law for the unorganized workers union to provide all the necessary facilities required.

Today over 5000 unorganized workers do not have holiday, but the government workers have holiday and also get salary and other facilities as a part of May Day, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, MG Hegde, congress member said that, If Congress Government comes in to power they he will urge them to give similar importance to other education as given to CET, he added.
