Auto rickshaw drivers demand Welfare Council

02.03.10 : Dakshina Kannada Federation of Karnataka Auto rickshaw drivers union staged a protest demanding welfare council and implementation of various facilities on March 2 in front of DC office.

Mr. Sunil Kumar Bajal President of CITU and Mr.L.T. Suvarna Secretary Spoke about demands of welfare Fund for Auto Drivers.

Around three lakh people in the state, are leading their life by providing a public service. The petrol price along with the auto spare parts price have gone high. At the same time there has been raise in price of food stuffs and other goods also.

They urged the district administration to fix a constant price, if auto driver wants to charge a fair price with commuters. They also said that the struggle of CITU has made state government to form a new council of labour and provide required facilities. The state government has to try seriously to get retirement pension for auto drivers, scholarship to their children, life insurance facility and fund to construct house. And also ISI facility and proper parking place for auto rickshaws.
