Two films screened at “Madhyama Vedike”

02.03.10 : The “Madhyama Vedike” was jointly organised by Journalism Department of University College and Sahamata Film Society of Mangalore at Shivaram Karanth Bhavan of University College on March 2, Tuesday.

Commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) Dr K N Vijayaprakash inaugurated the event and said that the study of films has more essence that any other branch of study.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the films can disseminate information and create awareness in an effective manner. It also relieves the tension of people by providing entertainment.

Delivering the presidential address, Dr. H R Lakshminarayana Bhat, the principal of University College said that the Journalism Departments of many colleges have conducted one-day film festivals with the purpose of creating awareness among the students.

Dr. Udaya Kumar Irvatoor, the lecturer, made the welcome speech and delivered the introductory speech. Rajatha, a student of journalism, compered the programme. Eshwar Patel and Somashekar, lecturers of the Journalism Department were present on the occasion.

The interaction session was followed by the films screened at the college “Vimukti” and “Devakaru”.
