Hallappa’s case must be given to CBI: B Janardhana Poojary

03.05.10 Mangalore : Hartal Halappa, the state food and civil supplies
minister, resigned from the post, following a newspaper report that he had
sexually abused a woman, but the case has nor been hand over to CBI, said B
Janardhana Poojary, former union minister and senior leader of the Congress
Party, speaking at the press meet held at District Congress Office on May 2,
Monday.

He also said that, Chandravathi, a resident of Shimoga, lodged a complaint
with the Bangalore police that Halappa had raped her on November 26 but
Hallappa has denied accepting it. But the people have seen it through the
released copies of a CD in which Chandravathi was showing lying on a cot
wearing a night gown and weeping. In spite of these Hallappa is in proving
that, the bedsheet and gown colours are changed in the video.

Poojary also accused government and Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa to the
culprit and hence thorough investigation to be done on the matter. CM also
certifies that, Hallappa is good person and it is the political gimmick to
spoil his reputation. CM also stressed that Hallappa and rape do not have
any connection, he added.
There are no sincere police officials present in the state who can
investigate on the matter. He the government has agreed to give the case to
COD, but it must be handed over to CBI he said.
He also said that, Yeddyurappa must be resigned from the post and must be
arrested under the section 201 and Jagadish shettar must be made as the
chief minister.
Shashidhar Hegde, Vijay Kumar Shetty, Kallige Tharnath Shetty, Mohammad
Masood, Suresh Ballal, Ivan D’Souza and MLA UT Khader were present.
