Miscreants attack two Kannada daily offices in City.

03.02.10 : A group of unidentified miscreants attacked the Mangalore office of “Kannada Prabha,”  and ‘Jaya Kirana’, the Kannada daily, on March 2, Tuesday.

The Kannada Prabha office which is located on the first floor of Ganesh Mahal on K S Rao Road was open when the group of miscreants entered in and threw a Petrol bomb inside it. Four of these miscreants were wearing masks. The staff were rescued and none of them suffered any injuries. 15 Members of miscreants came Bike and Auto Rikshwa. The valuable equipment such as computers,Printers were destroyedin the fire.

The police rushed to the spot along with the fire service squad. Meanwhile, the miscreants escaped from the spot  and police have launched a manhunt for them.

The similar incident took place at the  “Jaya Kirana” office  at more or less the same time.

The recent Kannada translation of Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen “Burqa,” published in Kannada Prabha led to communal violence in Shimoga and Hassan, leaving 2 people dead and several injured and caused huge loss of property.
