3 day Konkani Rangotsava inaugurated

03.05.10 Mangalore :  ‘Konkani Rangotsav’ a three day event jointly organized by Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy and Rangakarmi Kumble Srinivas Bhat Prathistan was inaugurated at Rangayogi Ramanada Choorya Vedike of Town Hall on May 3, Monday.

Speaking after inaugurating the event, MLA Yogesh Bhat said that, the activities like dance, music, drama and art is necessary for the development of any language.

Rangayogi Ramanada Choorya was a person who encouraged people towards the Konkani drama. He open heartedly corrected the person in their mistakes until they give best of their performances. He never showed his sorrow to the people but made them laugh, he said. In fact he was different person on stage, he added.

At the beginning of academy, the Government released the fund of Rs 8 lakhs for the social and political development, later it started receiving the amount of Rs 20 lakhs, but after the Yeddyurappa Government came into power, it is getting Rs 40 lakhs, he informed.

Kumble Sundar Rao, president of Karnataka Yakshagana Academy participated as the Chief Guest.  

Mangalpady Namdev Shenoy, member of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy welcomed the guests and gathering. S H Shivarudrappa, registrar of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy delivered the key note address.

Kundapur Nrayana Kharvi, president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy and Gopinath Bhat, convener of Kumble Srinvas Bhat Prathisthan, Mangalore were present on the dais.
