Bed  manufacturing unit on fire: Rs 60,000 loss due to a short - circuit.

04.06.10 Mangalore : A Bed manufacturing and upholstery unit in Kandathpalli in port city old harbour area, was struck by a short circuit of power and caught fire at 8.45 in the  morning today, resulting in a partial loss of Rs. 60,000 to the owners.

The unit was near Kudroli in a building owned by Feroze, and Iqbal was running it. The fire was accidental to the unit called Sapna enterprises. The backside of the building had a tiles roof, and here two machines were working and 100 beds had been kept. All of them were burnt to black. Two workers Farook and Sharif, have escaped with minor injuries at work during the sudden fire. Police rushed to the spot and found that the bed / upholstering unit was not insured against risks.

C. Basavanna, officer, and local fire brigade fighter C. Jaya, rushed to the spot and succeeded in extinguishing the flames. Fire brigade staff members K. Mohammed, Sanjiva Giridhar, and Pratap Marakada assisted in the action to contain the fire losses.
