Bus Collision: 17 Kids injured

04.06.10 Mangalore : Two buses – one school children’s bus with kids and another private service bus, had a head – on collision this morning at around 9 Am (school - time) in the outskirts of Mangalore at Neermarga, and 17 children were injured. The service bus at a road turning, going to B.C. Road speedily, dashed against the Rotary Navachetan school bus going to school, seriously injuring the driver of the school bus. All the 18 injured have been admitted to SCS hospital (Balmatta) and Tejaswini hospital (Kadri). The private service bus driver, against rules, was talking on a mobile while driving fast. The school bus driver tried to avoid the Larger bus by moving to a corner of the road at Neermarga, but could not avoid the accident. There were 38 children in his school bus.

The list of injured kids includes Sushmita, Dia, Aafrin, Pavithra, Joshwith Pravas, Vaibhav, Yeshaswini, Varshini, Vineet, Yeshwit, Nithya, Lavanya, Zakiya, Shamit, Ashia and Purneshwari besides the driver.

A school teacher (Shanthi) was also travelling in the school van, but was not hurt.
