Child Labour Department raid’s businessman’s house

03.06.10 Mangalore : The Labour department along with the Barkhe police officials raided a house belonging to Shoukat residing at Sunny Apartment behind Hotel Maharaja on June 3, Thursday.

Two children Siddhika (13) and Shivakumar (12) are working in the house of Shoukat from past 1 and 3 years respectively.

Siddiqui (13), resident of Chickmagalur is the last daughter of Maqbul and Akbar is working as a house maid in Shoukat’s house for past one year. Siddika who studied till 6th standard in Bangalore was brought to Shoukat’s house located at Ullal and then shifted to the present house.  She washes utensils, sweeps and swabs the house.

Shivkumar (12), a resident of Manjeshwar Hosangady, son of Ullegowda and Jayamma who are working in Shoukat’s plywood factory located at Manjanady.  Shivakumar was studying in second standard when he came to the factory with his parents during the vacation. Later he brought him to his house for working with his parent’s permission.

DG Nagesh, Child Labour Department Official, Gopala Gowda, Divisional Labour Officer, Satyanarayana and  Krishnamma, Senior Labour Officer and Manohar from Labour department conducted the raid. Lady Constables like Nethravathi, Usha and Shambhavi accompanied the department in the raid.
