Anuradha Paduwal graces at 100th Moinyali Manchi “Sadan Shembhor”

05.04.10 Mangalore : The 100th Moinyali Manchi of Mandd Sobhann “Sadhan
Shembhor” was organized at Kalaangann on April 4, Sunday.
The presence of Anuradha Paduwal, the leading Hindi singer, graced the
occasion as the chief guest and attracted a huge number of audiences.
Speaking on the occasion, Anuradha Paduwal lauded Mandd Sobhann for
fostering Konkani dance, music, and folk art. She also said that she is
proud to be a Konkani by birth and will be glad to support the cause of
Konkani. Later she released Neetha Rebello’s research book on “Konkani
Music - Yesterday, Today, and in Future” on the occasion.

Eric Ozerio, the gurkhar of Mandd Sobhann, said that the 100th Moinyali
Manchi is a great achievement on the part of Mandd Sobhann and expressed
gratefulness to people for making this Moinyali Manchi a great success. He
also said that Mandd Sobhann’s Moinyali Manchi has provided the opportunity
for more than 2000 artists from various parts of India.

Talented troupes of singers from Mangalore and Goa presented immortal
Konkani numbers of Mumbai, Mangalore, and Goa selected by organizers,
accompanied by dance performances which lasted for 3 hours.
A programme was organized to render tribute and honour Konkan Koghul Wilfy
Rebimbus, who died recently. Melwyn Rodrigues, the Konkani poet made the
condolence speech.
Mr. Louis Pinto honored Wilfy by placing a golden wreath made of notations
of his song, “Konkani Amchi Bhas,” around his portrait.
