Identity Cards distributed to Savitha Community members

 04.05.10 Mangalore : The South Canara district Savitha Samaj (hair-dressers) and Beauty Planet of Mangalore joined hands on Tuesday morning to hold a Men’s Beauty Parlour training camp and distribute identity cards to the community members. The ceremonies were held at Kulal Bhawan on the Mangaladevi Temple road.

The inaugural session was presided over by Dinesh Bangera, who leads the D.K Savitha Samaj as well. Mayor Rajani Dugganna made the inaugural keynote speech. She referred to the local youngmen of Savitha Samaj neglecting their age-old jobs and going in for other professions, while certain people outside the state are jumping in to make money on modern hair styles in Karnataka.

The real hair-dressers of Savitha Samaj had to wake up and bring their arts of dressing hair for men and women upto date, or else, they will suffer for giving up an ancestral occupation which is bringing huge business these days.

President Dinesh Bangera in his speech opined that the present function was a golden opportunity for those who forgot their age-old custom and new hair styles, by joining in the training provided today.

The plenary session was addressed by Abhay Chandra Jain, Congress MLA Identity cards were distributed to all aspirants and community members who joined the training camp.
