Porkhi

05.02.10 : This is a fully loaded action extravaganza well
stitched for the image of challenging star Darshan. A tailor
made one ‘Porkhi’ which appeared in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi
language versions and all of them are found to be successful.
Although coming late to Kannada the film ‘Porkhi’ is lavishly
made with glorious production values cinematography and
melodious plus peppy songs. For action lovers Darshan has
given a film what he normally gives in three films.
Director MD Sridhar has made a miniscule change to suit the
nativity and producer Dattatreya Bache Gowda in his debut film
has given a good commercial flick.
The subject is nothing new. The usual police verses criminals
in the underworld. But the suspense of the protagonist who on
a killing spree is exposed in the end and that is what very
convincing.
Datthu (Darshan) is a roadside badshah. His weapons are his
strength and will power added with great confidence. He can
take on any. He is connected to every bad element in the
society. Datthu has a purpose behind doing all kinds of
nefarious activities. He is sure that he is putting down
criminals. He has the cake walk in it. Such a killing spree
expert Datthu has a lover Anjali (Pranitha). Anjali is taken
aback when she come to know Datthu’s criminal connections.
Shocked yet she wants him only. The story takes a different
turn with the emergence of international criminal (Ashish
Vidyarthi). It is time for the tucked secret opening up.
Datthu has by this time eliminated almost all the criminals in
the city. Now we get to see that he is a cop. Finally it is an
end for the international don in the hands of Datthu.
Darshan as a challenging star of Kannada cinema has taken huge
challenge. The scores of action scenes for him is nothing new.
In the emotional scenes also Darshan wins. Pranithi is
impressive in her debut. She is daring in her outfits.
Shobaraj, Avinash, Ashis Vidyarthi, Sharan, Sadhu Kokila,
Srujan Lokesh have given admirable support.
Sakkathagavle….is the peppy tune from Harikrishna, Dheera
Dheera…..is well tuned. The cinematography for this kind of
action movie is not an easy task that is handled with
expertise by Krishnakumar.
For action lovers there cannot be any thing better than ‘Porkhi’.
