Single Leg Dancer makes Audience Captive

05.03.10 : Bharatha Nritya Sabha organized a Bharathanatyam, Koochpudi & Mohiniattam by single leg Impressive Dancer from Tiruvananthapur , VR Vandana along with her troupe on March 5, Friday at Town hall, Mangalore.

Although a born handicap, Vandana excels at both Bharathnatyam and Mohiniattam dance form.  Vandana uses her wooden leg only for walking and gives all her dance performances only with one leg.

Later V R Vandana was felicitated by the Mangalore’s Mayor Rajani Duganna with a shawl, memento and citation. Shashikanth Nagvekar of Samskara Bharathi rewarded the artiste with the cash prize of Rs 5000.

Deputy Mayor Rajendra Kumar, Kumble Sundar Rao, president, Yakshagana Academy, Ullal Mohan Kumar, Suresh Raj and Sharadha Mani Shekar were present on the dais.
