NITK confers degrees to achievers at 7th annual Convocation

06.05.10 Mangalore : “Due to the tremendous growths in population and globalization, today’s technologists are confronting new challenges. Environmental protection and social equity are the critical issues which need to be mentioned in modern engineering designs”, said Governor H R Bhardwaj, speaking after delivering his convocation address at the seventh annual convocation of NIT – K, Surathkal on May 5, Wednesday.

He also said that, our technical, engineering systems and organizations is required to be redefined, restructured and reorganized to gain country’s precious natural resources.

Prof. Sandeep Sancheti, Director of NITK, welcomed the gathering and read out the annual report of the institution. He also said that NITK was conferred with the ISTE-KIIT Best Technical University Award in 2009.

 375 candidates were awarded degrees in the convocation. Apart from it, the gold medalists and prize winners of various departments were also awarded. A convocation march was held to welcome the guests.

Prof Govardhan Mehta, chairman of board of directors, NITK presided over the occasion. V.S Acharya, Home Minister of Karnataka, parents of students and many others were present on the occasion.
