Rajdeep Sardesai Visits City to Inaugurate Vishwa Konkani Keerthi Mandir

06.03.10 Mangalore : Rajdeep Sardesai, the editor-in-chief of CNN-IBN, after inaugurating the Vishwa Konkani Keerthi Mandir (World Konkani Hall of Fame), which has been constructed under the auspices of the Konkani Language and Cultural Foundation, Shaktinagar, on March 6, Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, Sardesai said that the hospitality of Mangaloreans and their sweet smiles feels like visiting the places again and again.

He also unveiled the photograph of his late father Dilip Sardesai, the internationally acclaimed cricket player.

Ramdas Kamath U, the senior vice president of Infosys Technologies, inaugurated the ethnic Konkani Shoppe (Bhandsaal). Mentioning the fact that the University of Chicago is conducting research on South Indian languages, But he regretted the fact that South Indians have not put in as much effort to retain their language and value it..

Sagarika Ghose, wife of Rajdeep and senior editor of CNN-IBN, was the guest of honor. Dr. D Dayananda Pai, the chairman of Konkani Language and Cultural Foundation, presided over the programme. Dr. Tanaji Halamkar, presented a brief introduction of the Research Centre.

Basty Vaman Shenoy, the Vishwa Konkani Sardar, gave the welcome speech. Mahesh Nayak, the executive editor of Mangalore Today, compered the programme. Venkatesh Baliga proposed the vote of thanks.
