No formal training in classical music: Anuradha Paudwal

06.04.10 Mangalore : ‘It’s a lovely feeling coming to Mangalore, where I
used to come earlier in my childhood days, said Anuradha Paudwal, Bollywood
singer speaking to the media person at the press meet held at newly setup
Chefs restaurant on April 6, Tuesday.
People say that I was first singer to challenge the monopoly of the
Mangeshkar singers, with a spate of successes in the Hindi Playback
industry, but actually I did not come to challenge them, but learnt singing
listening to them, she said. People have to say one or the other thing, no
one can stop it, she informed.

"I have not received any formal training in classical music but I just
practiced for many hours listening to Lataji". She is my guru, she said.
I actually belong to the old school of music which was very strict unlike
present day. During that time every studio had a auto tuner in Mumbai and I
was bit nervous to forget the lines in between the songs.
She gained recognition with her popular numbers for the movie, ‘Hero’,
‘Karma’, ‘Meri Jung’, ‘Dil Hai Ki Mantha Nahin’ and ‘Aashiqui’.

Earlier it was difficult to get chance enter into film industry, but now due
to the television reality show, over 5000 singers churn out to display their
talent, difficult to enter to film for all and easy for winners. Hence now
necessity of performance is more than singing.
She also lauded Eric Ozario for diving an opportunity for various singers
and organizing such an event. Eric Ozario was present at the press
meet.
