06.05.10 : Bangalore rural district students secured second position, while Mandya came third. Chikkodi Taluk in Belgaum district went ahead of all centres to claim the top position. Many of the passed students were girls. As many as 86 schools failed to produce any student with pass marks and probably they will be asked to close down in shame.

Bidar at the corner of Karnataka was relegated to the bottom of all centres with 32.27% success, but Udupi managed to come fourth in the final race of schools.

Over 8.20 lakhs of students had appeared for the school Finals and over 5.31 lakhs got through, yielding a creditable 63.56% eventual result of passes. But the standard of education of these children is not satisfactory. Last year, the pass percentage was over 70%. The city students did not reach this percentage in 2010. However, 3 students secured 619 marks each out of a total of 625 marks this year.

New comers to the SSLC class have passed this year at 68.77% while the repeaters got a pass for only 21.56%, of the total such students or numerically for 12,714 only.

The city students appear to have little interest in the results of SSLC and the schools were found deserted by them either because they had a summer vacation or had an Internet at home or cyber to watch on a dull day when there was nothing to hold their interest.
