Karavali editor Seetaram send o judicial custody till Jan 17th.

Karavali ale editor B.V. Seetaram was arrested on Sunday in connection with an old case by the Mulky police and produced before judicial magistrate. He was granted bail on condition but refused the bail apprehending threat to his life by Bajpe police. While speaking to the reporters he said that “Nearly 25 policemen surrounded me. But they did not produce any arrest warrant. I demanded an arrest warrant. Then, they sent a policeman to the Shirva police station to get the warrant. My wife was also with me. The case in which they have arrested me is a two-year-old defamation case. The case had earlier been dealt by the Sessions Court and it had been then found that my name and designation were not properly written. Now, they are arresting me in the same case. They only want to harass me and humiliate me. I would not be surprised, if I am killed in a police encounter”

 Another attempt to arrest Seetaram is also planned by the bajpe police in relation with some other minor cases. Seetarm is a bold and daring person in his profession and an act like this by the police may gag the journalists, so the state press union has requested the chief minister to protect the independence of such journalists and also guard the Independence of the journalism.
