Koraga community staged Protest for Women on Women’s Day

08.03.10 Mangalore : The Korga community of Dakshina Kannada district held a mass procession and protest demanding for an effective implementation of laws related women and female children and a prohibitory act for domestic violence in front of the District commissioner’s office on March 8.

A mass procession was conducted from Light house hill road to DC office. Nearly 300 persons participated in the rally. 

Speaking on the occasion President of Koraga community, Balaraj, said that the Koraga community is facing a lot of the problems, hence the government has to enforce the domestic violence prohibitory act. He also said that the community sought for a separate section in women and children’s welfare department for the implementation of law.

Later, a memorandum pertaining to this has been handed over to DC after the protest.
