Utilize Governmental Schemes implemented for welfare of women: Bhandary

08.01.10 Mangalore : ‘The state government has devised a number of welfare
schemes for women ‘ said Santhosh Kumar Bhandary, the president of DK Zilla
Panchayat, after inaugurating the World Women's Day programme and exhibition
held at at Town Hall on March 8, Monday.
The programme was jointly organized by DK Zilla Panchayat, Department of
Women and Child Welfare, Federation of District Mahila Mandals, District
Legal Aid Authority, and Karnataka State Women's Commission.
Bhandary urged also said that Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr. D Veerendra
Heggade is also working for the welfare of rural women through the
establishment of self-help groups.
Rajashree Heggade, Chairperson of Health and Education Standing Committee,
Mangalore, released a book authored by Dr. Rathidevi, professor at Kasturba
Medical College. Rekha Shetty, advocate of Mangalore, delivered a lecture on
the topic "Women's Security Act from Family Harassment 2005"

Presiding over the occasion, MLA Yogish Bhat, said that the state
government has implemented a number of schemes for women, But the government
gets the credit when the beneficiaries utilize these schemes. The government
also plans to give Rs 100 as monthly pension to tailors, auto drivers, and
others including Anganwadi teachers during their old age.
Lokeshwari Vinayachandra, winner of the Kittur Rani Awaard and social
worker, and Jayalakshmi, winner of the National Award, social worker, and
anganwadi teacher, were felicitated for their contributions and
achievements. Various self-help groups and children were also honoured for
their achievements.
