KPCC President RVD denies misuse of collected funds for flood victims.

08.06.10 Mangalore : R.V. Deshpande on Monday denied that any misapplication of Money collections made by Congress leaders after the North Karnataka floods, to save the flood victims who lost all they had during torrential floods inundating their properties and homes in 2009. He admitted that a part of the total collections meant for flood victims (to re build houses and to compensate for crop losses etc.,) had been diverted for other purposes, while justifying such utilization. He informed pressmen in Bangalore that a deposit of Rs. 75 lakhs has been made in banks to prevent any misuse or misappropriation by authorized collectors of such money from the public, meant for flood victims in various measures of assistance.

He accused the BJP leaders that they were spreading rumours on misuse of floods only to win Rajya Sabha elections for the 4th seat. He added that he (RVD) had enough private wealth, so would not stoop to misuse public funds meant for welfare work . but some former ministers and ex – MPs had collected money for party contests to Rajya Sabha but did not send this money to the Congress party. Kharge had requested such leaders to account for the party fund collections over and over again. The news of misuse of funds meant for flood victims, and collected by these erring leaders, has obviously made them nervous.
