Journalists’ hold protest against media attacks

The Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists’ Union staged protest against attacks on media personnel and property in front of the DC office on March 8, Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Harish Rai, journalist and secretary of Press Club said that the attack on the Kannada Newspaper offices is not just an attack on a particular newspaper, but on every media person.

He also said that the police department has not taken any action against the culprits in spite of the DK Working Journalists’ Union having submitted a memorandum to IGP of Western Range Gopal Hosur and Superintendent of Police Dr. A Subrahmanyeshwar Rao, regarding the attacks on newspaper offices. Hence the media condemn this act of the police department, he added. Later, the union then submitted a memorandum to DC.
