Konkani Kogull Wilfy Rebimbus no more; funeral on Mar 11

09.03.10 Mangalore : A renowned singer Wilfy Rebimbus(67) the Nightingale of Konkani music breathed his last at Fr Muller Hospital on March 9, Tuesday. 

The singer was ailing from lung cancer since past one year. Due to the poor health condition, he was admitted to Fr Muller  Hospital last week.  

He was a musician, lyricist and singer who has cast a magical spell on the listeners through his unique compositions and distinct style that has won him millions of admirers. Recently, this star singer brought back memories when he presented the Wilfy Rebimbus Golden Sentimental Nite to a packed audience in the city.  

The then Bishop of Mangalore Rt Rev BS D’Souza in the year 1971, honoured him with a title Konkani Kogull, the Nightingale of Konkani.

The mortal remains of Wilfred Rebimbus will be kept  at St. Joseph’s Seminary  Church – Jeppu, Mangalore from 2 – 4 pm on Thursday 11 March 2010 for public to pay the last respect, followed by Requiem Mass  at 4 pm and burial at Jeppu Cemetery .
