MCC must issue notices to unauthorized Building Owners : Suresh Kumar

09.06.10 Mangalore : Mangalore City Corporation must prevent the
construction of unauthorized buildings which violate rules and regulations
of Mangalore Urban Development Authority, said S Suresh Kumar, State
Minister for Urban Development.
Speaking at the progress review meeting on the developmental works taking
place at the limits of Mangalore City Corporation held at the conference
hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on June 9, Wednesday, he said that
MCC must immediately issue notices to the building, hotels and shopping
complexes owners which lack parking facilities, and cancel their licenses
even after issuing the notice.

Protecting traffic rules is one of the major responsibilities of City
Corporation hence, the district administration to restrain the violation of
traffic rules without any hesitation, he urged.
V Ponnuraj, Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada, said that the district
administration is encouraging to implement the off-street parking throughout
the city. Since road is meant for movement of the vehicles and not for
parking.
MCC Commissioner Dr K N Vijayaprakash said that, in order to tackle the
problem on solid waste management, MCC has come out with a plan of temporary
soil capping solution to avoid fire accidents in dumping yards. But the
permanent solution requires the amount of Rs 2. 5 crores, he added.

Minister Suresh Kumar congratulated Mangalore city for securing eighth place
out of 25 cities selected among the 400 cities of the country for
maintaining better waste disposal system. Mysore bagged second position,
further he requested the city corporation to bring Mangalore to the second
place.
The Minister criticized the two engineers of MCC for their irresponsible
behaviour who quarreled in public recently, and asked the administration to
collect the report from two regarding the quarrel in 15 days.
State Home Minister Dr. V. S. Acharya, MLA Yogish Bhat, Rajani Dugganna,
Mayor, Krishna J Palemar, District In-charge Minister, Deputy Mayor Rajendra
Kumar and DC V Ponnuraj were present on the occasion.
