Punish the Hindu sellers of cows: Nagaraj

 10.03.10 Mangalore: “The government must punish the Hindu sellers of cows if it insists on punishing beef eaters by imposing a ban on cow slaughter” declared State Secretary of CPI (M) G N Nagaraj during a protest staged against the ban imposed by the state government on cow slaughter in front of the DC Office on March 9, Tuesday. The Janata Dal and CPI also supported the CPI (M).  

He said that people will be forced to purchase mutton to satisfy their dietary requirements since it is rich in proteins next to the cow meat. Since mutton is expensive, many people cannot afford it, he pointed out.

Nagraj also said that, if farmers are not not allowed to sell their old and weak cows, they will suffer and face poverty since they have to feed the animals. He urged the government to realize that not only minorities, but also large portions of the Hindu community also consume beef.

President of Muslim Varthakara Samithi Ali Hassan, District Secretary of CPI P. Sanjeeva, State President of JDS J S Noronha, and CPI (M) Secretary B Madhava , JDS District President M.B.Sadashiva, Mangalore Central Commit Aziz Kudroli, Vishwanatha Nayuak CPI, also participated actively in the protest.
