Shastavu Bhoothanatheshwara Temple Renovation festival: Due on May 12 to
20, 2010

10.05.10 Mangalore : The Re-installation of main Deity, Sri Shastavu
Bhoothanatheshwara at the Badaga Yedapadavu-Mijar town on the outskirts of
Mangalore city and the Brahmakalasha Abhisheka (drenching the Deity with
holy waters) Mahotsava at the newly renovated temple scheduled in pompous
celebration from May 12 to 20 this month, have brought a jubilation among
the devotees all over the taluk.

Eminent priests led by B.K. Subrahmanya Thanthri and Sri Rama Thanthri will
perform the reinstallation ceremony at 8-32 A.M. (Muhurtha) on May 16. The
Brahma Kalash Abhisheka ceremony will take place on May 19 at 7.51A.M.
A “Gurukiran Musical Nite” is the highlight of the cultural programmes due
at the temple on May 16, and on all other days by talented artistes, says a
press note.
The festivities in a rural atmosphere and local enthusiasm start with a
public prayer at 6 P.M on May 12 and run for a whole week thereafter.
State dignitaries like Home Minister, Dr. V.S. Acharya and educational
celebrities such as Moodabidri Mohan Alva have agreed to take part in the
programme on May 16 (reinstallation of the main Deity).
Sri Vidyaprasanna Thirtha of Subrahmanya Peeth will inaugurate religious
ceremonies scheduled on May 19 at 6 P.M (Brahmakalasha bath). Sri
Gurudevananda of Odiyur Math will make the benedictory speech after the
religious ceremony on this occasion.
The temple has a unique pedestal of 3 or triple Sivalingam, inside
Garbha-griha (sanctum sanctorum) in this 1500 years old temple on the West
Coast.
M. Jeevandhar Hosamane and Mudabettu family member Vijaynath Shetty have
taken pains to renovate this great shrine (earlier in a
dilapidated/neglected condition), the press release added.
