Sri Rama Sene Protest meeting in city

10.05.10 Mangalore : In a letter addressed to the Home Minister, Govt. of
India, New Delhi and routed through D.K. - DC V. Ponnuraj in Mangalore this
morning after a protest rally at the gates of DCO, Sri Rama Sene urged the
release of its state Joint Secretary, Prasad Attavara, held in custody by
state police.

The memorandum stated that Sri Rama Sene worked for the country (India) and
protection of Dharma (righteous spirit) all along, but its workers (such as
Prasad) were wrongfully arrested by the state police through foisting false
criminal cases against them and therefore, the Sene wants intervention by
the Home Minister. 112 Sainiks had been arrested in the case of painting the
face of Sene leader Mutalik and they have not been released as yet, whereas
a youth Congress worker who had insulted Mutalik publicly was arrested and
released after 4 days in police custody, said the main speakers at the
public rally at the gates of DCO, amid cries of ‘Shame, Shame’ from the
audience. Pramod Mutalik led the rally and went in to meet the DC Ponnuraj
to present the Sene memorandum after the protest meeting.

The speakers alleged police atrocities at the instance of State Government,
exerting pressure to crush the Sri Rama Sene.
Mutalik urged the Home Minister P. Chidambaram to render justice to the S.
R. Sene workers who are in jail and to arrange their release from custody
soon.
Apart from Pramod Mutalik, the national leader of Sri Rama Sene, Savitha (Mysore
division), Kumar Malemar, Madhu Urva, Subhash Padil, Kishore Jeppu (all
Sene’s local workers) and Shivananda Prabhu (JJ Samithi) were present.
