DK ShivaKumar in hot waters.

10.06.10 Bangalore : Firebrand Congressman D.K. Shivakumar, who is “executive” president of KPCC, is already facing criticism for exposing a scam in Congress office to the tune of Rs.50 Lakhs in misusing funds collected for flood victims of October 2009, and now Iskcon has filed a defamation suit against him in a civil court for making a speech in Legislative Assembly against Iskcon in regard to mid – day meals scheme for school children. DKS had accused Iskcon of storing food grains in the name of preparing mid – day meals to school children. Iskcon has filed a suit on Wednesday  against DKS, demanding Rs 1.80 crores as relief (damages) from him in the case of Akshaya Patre meals distribution. Local Dt. D.C. Bangalore has conducted an enquiry and come to the conclusion that Iskcon did not commit fraud in storing food grains to prepare mid – day meals. This verdict has been attached to the suit filed against the ebullient Congress leader DKS, seeking damages from him by Iskcon Akshaya Patre Foundation chief  Madhu Pandit Das.

DKS had called Iskcon members as “Grains thieves” and had conducted a raid on Iskcon Food grains storage House in October 2009. He had accused Iskcon of cornering foodgrains from Fair price shops to sell in the open market at a higher price. He had ridiculed ‘Akshaya Patre’ as ‘Bhiksha Patre’ scheme. Thousands of followers of Iskcon had been pained / injured mentally due to such false propaganda, as Iskcon never had any illegal purpose behind the mid - day meals services, Madhu Pandit Das told in a press meet in city. The opponents (Congress leaders) had failed to prove their points / allegations, and therefore, Iskcon in turn has demanded defamation damages in a court of law, the Iskcon chief added.
