Mangaladevi Car Festival concludes; Nemotsava to take place today

11.03.10 : The grand ceremony of Mangaladevi Car Festival commenced on March 5 and concluded with the similar magnificent  ritual on March 9, Tuesday. 

Devotees from Mangalore, Udupi, as well as Kerala visited Mangaladevi Temple, which is among the most ancient in these parts. In fact, Mangalore gets its name from this historic temple.

The devoteess at the temple pulled the chariot of the goddess with enthusiam on Tuesday night. Several other rituals such as Ganahoma, Nava Kalashabhisheka, and Mahapuja were performed by the priests of Mangaladevi Temple in the course of the crmonony. Later the  rituals such as Kavata Bandhana and Bhootabali were conducted. 

As a part of procession a the chariot was accompanied with the wide range  of tableaux, tiger dancers, puppet shows, mythological scenes related to the Goddess, Chende troupes, and others added granduer to the car festival. As a annual cerebration, the last day, that is after the conclusion of car festival, nemotsava  is being held in woship to the daivas, which will be held today.
