People gather to pay tribute to Wilfy Rebimbus

11.03.10 Mangalore : A large number of Wilfy’s fans and friends gathered in the farewell hall of the St Joseph’s Parish Church, Jeppu, Mangalore on March 11, Thursday, afternoon to pay last tributes to the legendary Konkani singer.

The body of the legend was brought to Jeppu Seminary grounds at 2.00pm and was kept for public viewing till 4.00 pm.  The Funeral mass was begun at 4.00 pm in the presence of Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza. Fr Victor Machado of Jeppu Seminary delivered the homily. Fr Denis D’Sa, Dr Edward Nazareth and Leslie Rego and many eminent personalities of Mangalore delivered the condolence message after the mass.

People in large number bid farewell to the Konkani Music Legend with tearful eyes. He will remain in the hearts of Mangaloreans for the times to come.

The Bishop of Mangalore Rt. Rev. Aloysius Paul D’Souza offered the final prayers dedicating the mortal remains of Wilfy.  He invoked blessings of Holy Spirit and the Saints to take his soul to heaven in their grace.

The personalities and singers such as Prem Kumar, Claud D'Souza, Ivan Sequeira and Joswin Pinto, Rajani Dugganna, the newly elected mayor of Mangalore City Corporation accompanied by the deputy mayor Rajendra and corporator Ranganath Kini, also paid rich tributes to his legacy.
