Inauguration of Farmers Information Centre, Mangalore

 13-02-09 Mangalore: J. Krishna Palemar, District-in-charge Minister and Minister of Fisheries and ports inaugurated the Farmers Information Centre on February 13, 2009 at 11.00am in the campus of Veterinary Hospital, Mangalore. The function was presided by N. Yogish Bhat and B. Nagaraj Shetty.

Palemar after the inauguration said that “ The Farmers Information centre is mainly setup to provide information and services to the farmers. Our government has been taking several steps to provide all types of facilities to the farmers. Loans have been provided at a very low interest rates. He also said that cattle and poultry breed should be encouraged by the farmers. Central government has also signed an agreement of 25 lakhs with L&T for theirs new project that has been introduced for the development of Agriculture in Karnataka. In Koyla 700 acres of land has been undertaken to build a college to provide a brief knowledge to the farmers regarding cattling and poultry breeding. Now we have been reaching to the farmers to understand their problems through the Jana Spandana programme. This type of programme should also be conducted in the Taluk level to encourage farmers of Dakshina Kannada to provide a better yield”.

District Panchayat President K. P. Sucharita Shetty, Corporator Padnabha K, U.T. Kadar were also present in the function.
