Certificate used by the MSEZ is fake, Lokayukta

 13-02-09 Mangalore: In the Press club on February 13, 2009 at 10.30am Kateel Dinesh Pai, Social worker said to the media that “The Certificate used by the MSEZ is fake and its has been approved by the Lokayukta. Under Section 9 of the Karnataka Lokayukta Act, 1984, a matter of misconduct has been charged against Smt. M Vijaya Kumari, the then Special Land Acquistion Officer, KIADB, Baikampady, Mangalore for issuing a false certificate on 5/11/2007 stating that, the lands identified for Mangalore special economic zone is vacant contiguous and has no public fare passing through it and instrumental in acquiring about 1,500 acres of land for the above purpose by the government of India. According to the Lokayukta rule SEZ can be implemented only in vacant lands but MSEZ showing bogus records have made profits in crores by defrauding the Indian government”. He also said that more and more such issues against MSEZ will soon be brought in front of the public through the media. Silveston D’Souza, Durgaprasad, Venkatesh Achar were present in the occasion.
