Full-fledged Census to Commence from April 15

13.04.10 Mangalore : The full-fledged population census will commence from April 15, 2010 with a unique style after a detailed study, said Dr K N Vijayaprakash, Commissioner, Mangalore City Corporation.

He was speaking at media representatives at the press meet, held at commissioner’s chamber at Mangalore City Corporation on April 13, Tuesday. He also said that this will be the 17th census in the country after the independence. Hence all the citizens must render their support to make it a successful census, he added.

This census 18 in charge officer will be placed in 868 blocks and each will be divided into different blocks. Apart from them 136 supervisors will be positioned and a nodal officer for 2-3 ward at the district level.

 The members of the self help group will render their special support to the city corporation for conducting the census and hence they will be given 3 days training from May 9 to May 11.

The census programme will start from April 15 starting from Mayors house who is the first citizen of Mangalore and will continue till May end, he added. He also said that during the course of the census he will act as the principal census Officer for Mangalore City area.
