Mangalore has polled maximum votes: DC

13.05.10 Mangalore : ‘Mangalore has polled maximum votes in Gram Panchayat
election out of 73.47 percent of total polling’, said DC V Ponnuraj,
speaking at the press meet held at DC Chamber on May 13, Thursday. The
Konaje in Mangalore has received minimum votes of 36.38 percent, he added.
The counting of the election will be held on May 17 in two phases. Out of
199 gram panchayat election held, half of the counting will be held in the
morning, while other half to be completed in the noon and each phase of
counting will be held for 2 to 3 hour, whereas a recounting will be parallel
going on in recounting room.
During the counting process, the candidate or one of his supporters will be
allowed to be present during the counting process and not permitted for two.
The securities have been tightened to avoid conflicts after the first phase
of counting and create inconvenience during the second phase. One supporter
of the each candidate can be present instead of candidate himself, he said.
Informing about the online application available, he said that the public
can download any application from the DC office site ‘www.dc.nic.In’
which will be introduced to the public of Mangalore and Bantwal.
He also said that, the application filled by the public through online will
be registered in the DC office for more details. Public participation is
required for the successful implementation, he added.
