KPRS organises NREGA beneficiaries meeting at Munnooru

14.03.10 : The beneficiaries meeting  of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) organised by  The Karnatak Prantha Raitha Sangha (KPRS) at Thevu, Munnooru Grama near Thokkottu at Munnooru on March 14, Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Secretary of the DK Zilla Panchayath Muhammed Nazeer said that the NREGA will lead to overall development because it creates employment.

Nazeer said that they have accomplished work worth Rs 1,600,000 within few months. He said that Munnoru has become an ideal village thanks to the successful utilization of NREGA. 

NREGA, a government scheme that guarantees jobs, was implemented on August 25, 2005. The scheme guarantees 100 days of employment per financial year for adult members of rural families.

K Krishnappa Salian, the vice president of KPRS, DK district, said in his presidential address that NREGA can be transformed into a nationwide campaign to eradicate unemployment in villages.
