DC discusses water problem at ZP

14.04.10 Mangalore : V Ponnuraj, the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada, called for a meeting of all Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat members to discuss the acute water shortage in rural as well as urban areas  and provide possible solutions to them. 

During the meeting, the problem of water shortage in Mangalore, Mukka, Bantwal, and Surathkal was also discussed. The Zilla Panchayat has successfully resolved 41 of the 320 complaints received by it. Due to the technical problems, 200 of these complaints are still pending and 53 are being looked into. He instructed the CEO to resolve the pending complaints as soon as possible. 

The people living in the rural area shared their problem with the DC. In reply he said that the district administration has released an emergency fund of Rs 1 crore to take immediate steps toward solving the problem of water shortage, adding that an addition fund of Rs 70 lakh will be released soon. 

District-in-charge Minister Krishna J Palemar, President of the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayath Santhosh Kumar Bhandary, Standing Committee Presidents of Health, Education, Agriculture, and Industry also participated in the meeting.
