Kannada Sahitya Sammelan inaugurates with the grand procession

15.03.10 Mangalore : Kannada language must get priority in the education level, and government must work for its implementation, since they have full authority over it, said H S Venkateshmurthy, speaking after inaugurating the 16th district level Kannada Sahithya Sammelana held at Mathrashri Ratnavarma Vedike of Town Hall on March 15, Monday.

The sammelana is being held under the president ship of senior scholar Padekallu Narasimha Bhat and held under the guidance of Dr D Veerendra Heggade.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the great poet like Kuvempu describes about the thick forest of Kannada Nadu in his works, but he regrets at the barren land at present today. At present people lost belief and faith in god, but it’s lively in his writings.

He said that, the Government must implement the rule of Kannada speaking in schools as compulsory up to 10th standard.

Delivering the benedictory speech on the occasion, Sri Vishwesha Teertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt, said that Literature has power to develop the society, language, job and politics that cannot be possible from others.

He also said that, if Kannada must remain as mother tongue, parents must avoid English speaking to children in the house. The respect and love towards the language must be inculcated in children from the young age.

The grand procession was held from Bunts Hostel circle to the Town Hall before the stage programme.

Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, president, Kannada Sahitya Parishat welcomed the guests and gathering.

Subraya Chokkady, Krishna J Palemar, district in charge minister, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA Yogesh Bhat, MLA U T Khader, Mayor Rajani Dugganna, Harikrishna Punaroor, Prof Radhakrishna, Dr Ganesh Amin Sankamar, Dr Yashovarma, Thammayya, Sarvothamma Anchan, Meenakshi Gowda, Capt Ganesh Karnik, were present on the occasion.
