Ajmal Amir Kasab produced in a special
court

15-04-09 Mohammad Ajmal Amir Kasab has on Wednesday been physically
produced in a special court at the Arthur Road Jail for the first time after
being arrested in the 26/11 attacks.
Nearly 1,000 security personnel have been given the responsibility of protecting
Kasab with Indo-Tibetan Border Police personnel deployed inside the Arthur Road
Jail.
Over 450 Mumbai Police personnel, too, have been deployed at the Arthur Road
Jail. In addition, platoons of reserved police personnel have also been placed.
Kasab will travel through a special bomb-proof and chemical-proof corridor,
connecting his cell to the special court built inside the jail.
The entire route has been fitted with CCTV cameras to keep a close watch on
Kasab.
Police has imposed restrictions on the movement of vehicles around the special
court and the Arthur Road Jail. Even entry of media personnel has been
restricted.
Special bar-coded cards have been issued to media houses, lawyers and the court
staff. Biometrics security systems too have been put in place.
Meanwhile, Kasab will also be allowed to meet his mother after India granted the
permission on Tuesday, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in
Jangipur in West Bengal.
But sources tell CNN-IBN that Kasab's mother has not applied for a VISA yet.
Mukherjee also said that India can give more information on 26/11 to Pakistan
provided there is enough information apart from what already has been given.
“Whatever information they want we are prepared to give that provided we have
that. But the fact of the matter is that large numbers of people have been
killed. One terrorist has been arrest and that terrorist has made some
confession. His mother is coming to Mumbai to meet him. These are the realities,
these are the facts. Now if somebody wants to evade or avoid these facts what
can we do?” asked Mukherjee.
On Monday, Pakistan had asked for more evidence from India.
"We have received two identical reports for one terrorist Ismail who is
reportedly dead and Ajmal Kasab's DNA. Both are exactly identical," claimed
Pakistan Interior Ministry Advisor Rehman Malik.
Malik also demanding copy of statement given by Kasab before the magistrate, a
copy of chargesheet against Kasab, details of SIM cards used by attackers and
GPS coordinates that guided them to Mumbai apart from information about the
Indian nationals arrested for involvement in the attack.
