Agriculture sector goes in downward trend: Vinaya Hegde

15.04.10 Mangalore : “Around 65 per cent of the country depends on agriculture but this sector is going in a downward trend” said Vinaya Hegde, Chancellor, Nitte University, speaking at a workshop on ‘Indian Economy and Economic Survey 2010’ held at the Millennium Hall, Corporation Bank, Head Office, Mangalore on Wednesday, April 14.

The workshop was jointly organized by Justice K.S.Hegde Institute of Management, Nitte and Corporation Bank

He also said that one need to focus on the basic issues related to the deprived classes of the society.

Dr. Kaushik Basu, Chief Economic Adviser, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, in his address said that the growth is nothing but reaching out to the most backward segments of the society which do not reflect it progress without the economy and the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank are trying to handle the economic recession.

The Chairman & Managing Director of Corporation Bank,  J. M. Garg in his presidential address suggested that the local talent must be identified  to solve the problems and complete the developmental works according to district and taluk-wise modules.

Mr. Asit Pal, Executive Director Corporation Bank welcomed the gathering. Mr. Narendra Singh Executive Director, Corporation Bank, proposed Vote of thanks. Dr. Moodithaya, Director, JKSHM, introduced the guests.
