11 Associates gang of Chota Shakeel arrested

17.03.10 Mangalore : The district crime intelligence bureau were successful in arresting 11 supporter of the underworld don Chota Shakeel, who planned to murder 4 supporters of other underworld don Ravi Poojary, said IGP, Western Range Gopal Hosur, speaking at the press meet held at SP Guest House on March 17, Wednesday.

The DCIB who directed the police officials to arrest the accused involved in the murder attempt of Moosakunni from Madadka case registered in Belthangady police station limits in the month of September. Revealing that the team collected information that the accused Manjunath was living in a house at Dambel near Ashok Nagar and the team found that seven other persons were living with Manjunath in the house in question along with weapons.

The arrested are Manjunath alias Manju (22) of Kempanahalli, Chickmagalur, Susheel Kumar alias Monu (24), Askoknagar, Dambel Mangalore, Lateesh Nayak alias Lasse (21), Kudroli, Mangalore, Ashwin Anchan (25), Kudroli, Mangalore, Suresh Alban D’Souza (38),  Bejai Kapikad, Mangalore, Lohit Gatty (21),  Bhavanthi Street, Mangalore, Praveen (30), Urvavastore, Mangalore, Sushanchandra (22), Capitanio, Mangalore.
When these were investigated, they revealed about the conspiracy to kill Ravi Poojary’s gansters as directed by Chota Shakeel in 15 days time and escape to Chickmagalur where they had rent house at Chandragiri. They also said that the Mumbai’s sharp shooters will stay in the same house.

SP Dr A Subramanyeshwar Rao, said that later while conducting the raid  in Chickmagalur house , three other accused were arrested identifid as Ganesh Shivaram Shetty (35), Mumbai, Rakesh Mishra alieas Rohan (28), Uttar Pradesh and Manjunath alias Manju (21) from Chickmagalur. The officials have seized a revolver, 3 bullets and amount of Rs 63, 000 and mobile phones.

Harish shetty, another accused who is allegedly involvement with this case, is yet to be arrested and he is absconding, Dr A S Rao added, saying  that Chota Shakeel being the prime accused in this case, also has to be arrested.

The arrested accused had the mobile and land line numbers of noted businessman and politicians.

The accused were arrested by DCIB Venkatesh Prasanna and ASI K Narayan Maniyani and staffs under the guidance of IGP Gopal Hosur, SP Subramanyeshwar Rao and additional SP R Ramesh.
