Renovation & Re-installation of Deity at Mijar continue upto 20th

17.05.10 Mangalore : The weeklong temple renovation and re-installation of
main Deity Shastavu Sri Bhoothanatheshwara (Siva) at Mijar in Mangalore
taluk from 12th May has continued through Akshaya Triteeya (16th) upto 20th
May when the final offerings will be made to the new Deity under the
direction of chief Priests B.K. Subramanya Thanthri and Sri Rama Thanthri to
wind up the proceedings. There was a huge gathering of devotees till today
(May17).

On Sunday last (May 16) there was a 5-hours stage show offered by several
singers, actors, and music director Guru Kiran, when Home Minister V.S.
Acharya was present, along with Bollywood’s Sohail Khan and Maharastra
Politician Avinash Adhik and mimicry artiste Dayanand as chief guests.

Speaking on the occasion, the Mumbai Hindi films hero Sohail Khan expressed
his wonder at the scenic magnificence of Mangalore and the organizers’
capacity to hold such a cultural show in the midst of religious activities.
Adhik praised Vijayanath Shetty of Mudabettu family and his companions in
his efforts to renovate the historic temple. Gurukiran, the celebrated
singer turned music director in Kannada and other language films, kept the
audience spell-bound with his singing and musical variety entertainment.
President of several committees connected with renovation and Brahmakalasha,
such as M. Anand Alva, Jayaram Shetty, B. Padmanabha Rai, Pramukh Rai were
present in the august gathering. Vijayanath Shetty welcomed the invitees.
Manohar Prasad of Udayavani Daily compered the programme. M. Kantappa Shetty
proposed a vote of thanks. All of them worshipped the deities at the temple
earlier.
