Communal activities to rise after the emergence of new DC in Mangalore

18-03-09 Communal violence has reached its height in Mangalore after the emergence of the new DC in Mangalore. On March 17, 2009 at around 10 pm two unidentified miscreants knifed the owner of a fruit shop, Noufal near Srinivas theatre. The two miscreants came to the spot in the bike and after attacking the victim they fled away from the spot. Up to the time of filing this report, there have been no clues as to the identity of the miscreants. In the lower carstreet a group of miscreants came in 15 bikes and stones were pelted in retaliation to the stabbing incident and a Toyota Qualis car was partially damaged and in Mulky a Tata Indicom car has also been damaged. However there have been no reports of any injuries to anyone. The police accompanied by the District Armed Reserve Forces immediately rushed the spot and had the situation under control. Due to this people gathered near the Kudroli junction at around 10.45 pm and created a situation of tense around the residents but later after the police came to the spot and the situation was under control.
