Congress gained More GP seats

19.05.10
Mangalore : In a press meet called by DKCC chief and Bantwal MLA, B.
Ramanath Rai, criticised the ruling BJP of failures on all fronts in its 2 –
years rule, such it has not achieved expected results (success in view of
voters’ apathy towards Yeddyurappa govt.
The PDS is getting curioser, with BPL cards going to APL families, and the
food grains meant for the poor being sold to open market merchants by a
minister (resigned and under a cloud now) to make piles of illicit money.
There are frequent power failures on the coastal region and some parts of
the state in an extended Summer of excess heat. Also educational system and
results in SSLC / PUC suffered due to lower supply of power available for
young students, Rai pointed out.

People have started to disbelieve BJP with rising prices, loss of power and
faulty PD system in food grains / oil. Out of 3208 GPs in D.K, Congress had
verily captured as many as 1649 (a little over 50%).
The DKCC chief stated that the rural employment scheme evolved by the centre
(UPA govt.) has promised to be beneficial to people under GPs. The poor
sections have levied in harmony in view of rural works available to them
from the Centre, he added.

Local MLA U.T. Khader also spoke at the press meet, to inform that Congress
gained over 15 additional GPs this time in D.K. He felt that the Congress
burden towards people has increased in 2010.
Moodabidri MLA, Abhayachandra Jain, speaking on the occasion, told pressmen
that in his area, Congress won more than 18 GPs this time over the previous
election. The BJP rule has been distinguished by Power shortage, lack of
infrastructural facilities to he common man, and empty promises made to the
people have worked against BJP rule. The increasing corruption, illegal
mining and extra wealth of ministers, and misuse of administration under BJP,
have presently disenchanted the people, Jain stated.
Kallige Taranath Shetty, Ivan D’Souza, Moideen Bawa, Shashidhar Hedge and
Naveen D’Souza among others, were present.
