Globalization destroy local languages and cultures: Chandrahas Rai

19.06.10 Mangalore : The Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy organized a meet on
the topic ‘impact of globalization on Beary language’ at the Academy office
on June 18, Friday.

Delivering an introductory speech after inaugurating the event, B
Chandrahasa Rai, the Registrar of the Academy said that regional languages
and cultures are being taken away by the international happenings.
He said that the danger of globalization is not restricted only to a
language like Beary, but almost all local languages including Tulu and
Kannada are facing its threat as well.
Impact of globalization is not just limited to the languages, but it also
effects on our culture, customs, traditions and mentality, he stressed.
Ismath Phajeer, presented a essay on the topic on the occasion giving away
the example on the cultural and language attacks of globalization on Koraga
Community.
Member of Karnataka Beary Sahithya Academy, Abdul Azeez Baikampady presided
over the occasion. Azeez Kudroli, Corporator was the chief gust of the
occasion. Hamza Malar, journalist, compered the event.
