Porters organizes district level conference

20.04.10 Mangalore : The Mangalore Head Load Workers Association in
collaboration with CITU organized first Dakshina Kannada district conference
of head load workers federation at NGO hall on April 20, Tuesday.
Speaking after inaugurating the conference, B Madhava, State Vice president
of CITU, said that the rich class people always maintain their standard and
the poor who work under them remain as their servants.

He also said that, CITU is the lonely organizing which is fighting to give
justice to the poor and working class people in the society. None of the
other organization will even bother to think to do so, but later they will
work for the publicity during the finishing stage of the struggle with
attractive speeches.
He said that the Head Load Workers are lacking all the government facilities
like bonus, minimum wages, holidays and holiday salaries. The Head Load
Workers are completely neglected in the society at the present day.
He also urged the state government to provide 35kg subsidized food grains
per month at the rate of Rs 2 per kilo to the poor as per the promise. The
money has increased but quantity of rice has decreased he said.

Sunil Kumar Bajal, working president, said that there are thousands of Head
Load Workers present in Dakshina Kannada who lack certain facilities. Hence
forth every worker must work as the leader for other workers and adopt
leadership qualities to fight against injustice, he added.
K Mahantesh, participated as the chief guest on the occasion. Balakrishna
presided over the conference.
