Balyaya community building to be inaugurated in Port City on May 23

20.05.10 Mangalore : A single storeyed elegant-looking building of the Bolyaya (alias Kanishan) community is scheduled to be inaugurated by local Billava leader, B. Janardhana Poojary on the morning around noon on 23rd May in Jeppina Mogeru. A press conference was called to explain the event, by Nagendra Kumar, president of the Balyaya union, on May 20th at Woodlands Hotel Mangalore.

The new structure has been built at a cost of Rs. 10 Lakhs by the Union on its own land. This Community is native to the west coast and practises Astrology, Astronomical events, Ayurveda, and connected matters (like Rashi/Ashtamangala, queries) of the people spread over west coast and in cities such as Mumbai and Bangalore. The Balyaya Union conducts annually a social event (Mahasabha) wherein students get scholarship, rank students get honoured, and elderly persons of the community engaged in social service for many years are honoured in the presence of their brethren. Even cultural performances are gone through at this annual friendly meet in a hall. The Union has contributed funds under special emergency happenings, such as natural disasters, to reduce losses of the fellow sufferers.

At present, the union has its own building to conduct similar hearty annual events for its members. (Earlier as in 2005/6/7, they had to conduct them in a Fisheries College premises).

Bhaskar Kembar, Subhash Pandit, Vikram Kumar J, Ms. Jyothi Ashok J, Ms Umalakshmi Kudupu, and the Editor of a proposed Souvenir on the occasion (on May 23) Arunkumar, were present on the occasion, among other leading lights.

The Balyaya community is looking forward to this great inaugural event.
