Gopal Hosur in KCCI: speaks on coastal security and peace

21.05.10 Mangalore : The topmost police officer for the western Range and
IGP, Gopal B. Hosur, aaddressed the members of Kanara Chambers of Commerce
and Industry (KCCI) on Thursday, May 20, on the subject of “Law and order,
and Coastal Security”.
He informed that several arrests were made in 2009, of persons engaged in
Terrorism activities in DK, which needed an Anti-Terror Squad of trained and
agile fighters against terrorists. He asked the police department to curb
the terrorism in this district, in view of a pressure that led to arrests
and public co-operation in informing the police about
Terror- mongers. The department needs a cell with trained persons now, to
handle a new menace, he pointed out.

Hosur went on to say that the western Range of 4 districts has peculiar
problems of coastal safety, of Malnad, Naxalite presence, communal feuds and
mischief, besides Rowdies in public life. But he assured the merchants/KCCI
members that police department has brought every crime under control,
thereby allowing common people to live in peace. He gave a power point
presentation on the western range and its links with the police or people.
Srinivas S. Kamath, KCCI chief, welcomed the guests and members. G.G.
Mohandas Prabhu, Vice-President, introduced the keynote speaker to the elite
audience. Secretary Mohd. Ameen proposed a vote of thanks. Additional
secretary Ms. Latha R. Kini was present.
