Homage to the memory of Rajiv Gandhi: local Congress alive

21.05.10 Mangalore : Fresh from the wining trend experienced in recent GP elections on the West Coast, DKCC leaders and workers gathered in port city, to pay homage to a past youthful leader, Rajiv Gandhi, on his 19th death anniversary this day, at their office .

MLA B. Ramanath Rai, DKCC chief, presided, and paid rich tributes to an inspiring and handsome leader as PM, who died in 1992 before he could reach 50. He had the dream and vision of a great India in the world ,and worked towards this goal bit by bit, Rai recalled as instance of Rajiv G, participating in a meeting in Mangalore, just a day before he died in Siri Perambudur near Chennai at the hands of an assassin. As PM, Rajiv towered over the leaders in the opposition. He asked youth to promote religious harmony in the 1980s-90s. M.Badruddin, KPCC Secretary, also spoke on the occasion, asking youth to follow RG’s  example   

Ms Mamatha Gatti former Mayor and KPCC Women’s Wing chief, told the gathering that Rajiv G. had encouraged women to enter politics and work for the welfare of masses in the country.

Secretary T.K. Sudhir welcomed the gathering, while Abbas Ali, another secretary, proposed a vote of thanks.

Leaders Moideen Bawa, Ivan D’souza, Arun Coelho,Padmanabha N. and others were present, to offer flowers to RG’s portrait in his cherished memory.
