Implementation Anti Cow Slaughter Bill is not an achievement:  Poojary

22.03.10 Mangalore : The BJP government had a number of reasons to appeal to the Supreme Court and implement the anti cow slaughter bill, said B Janardhan Poojary, the former minister, during a press meet held at the office of the District Congress on March 22, Monday.

The BJP Government could only succeed to impose ban on cow slaughter, when they tried it under a different rule.

He also said that the anti cow slaughter bill will deprive a large number of people who depend on protein-rich food such as beef. The government is also cheating poor farmers who sell their cows for income, he alleged.

Poor people, who cannot afford to keep cows, sell them, he said, and demanded to know what was wrong in purchasing and using cows for meat. However, the Supreme Court has ruled that it is wrong to sell cows suffering from diseases, he added.

The fanatics say that the dung of cow is useful to produce bio-gas, but they do not know that it is useless since it is more expensive to produce.

Vijay Kumar Shetty, Suresh Ballal, Vishwanath Das and Kallige Tharnath Shetty were present at the press meet.
